Article Summary

In strategy work one of our biggest challenge is to refine and perceive the huge amount of information available. Enabling different perspectives and context to information with Pulse views You might find it easier to briefly summarize ideas and main points of the information used and analysed. This helps Your colleagues, teammates and management to work more focusing on the bigger picture and makes the work more efficient.

As we cannot predict when exactly these ideas pops up, whether in team meeting or privately, we have enabled creating topics in various views and features. Working with market feeds already connects and rates information for suitable context. Topic is the glue that bundles the pieces of information under a brief summary to use in the process.

Following types by the purpose of Topics are available:

  1. SWOT -topic to be used in Swot sessions with the Swot template
  2. Trend -topic to be used with assumption of the future situation
  3. Strategy -topic to be used with elements on Strategy map

Creating topics

In Pulse market feed views You can select with filters the related feeds and create a headline and summary with Topic-tool.

In dashboard blocks you can generate a topic and connect the block with the time stamp as background information with Topic-tool.

To begin the strategy work You might also want to create a topic framework as of Your business position today. Then You can start with SWOT or Scenario session tool to create valid topics from scratch without direct connection to any background data. As soon as you create any topics, they are available to be used and connected to watches, feeds and business model elements. This is recommended to prevent creating "floating" Topics without any connection to any framework.

Rating topics

Each created topic might have a poll setting that helps You to rate the importance, relevance or likelihood of the target topic. This can be done manually as well. It is an effective way to keep Your Swot or Scenario always updated. When creating a new topic without any rating yet, it will be shown in relevant context as a "new" topic to be noticed by other session or team members. In topic views the order of the shown topics are based on rating, most important is on top.
